Two years ago, I discovered that Marcos Álvarez @mawelters He was creating YouTube videos about travel, lifestyle, and skateboarding—a skater I related to because many years ago, we met at an event in Madrid where each of us qualified in a game of S.K.A.T.E in our respective cities, and the final took place in the capital. Neither of us won, but we joined the winners from each Spanish city, and it was a lot of fun. I hadn’t heard from Marcos again until I saw that he had launched his channel.

As I mentioned before, I made my first attempt at creating YouTube videos during the famous COVID-19 lockdown, where I made several pretty bad videos but saw the first real interactions and how everything worked. At that time, I received some criticism and a bit of social pressure, and once the lockdown ended and I was “free” again, my desire to create long videos disappeared, and I stopped.

Two years later, I discovered Marcos’s channel. I remember watching one of his videos in Colombia; it was so enjoyable and personally enriching that an idea came to me—maybe Marcos was the push I needed to see things differently, gain a new perspective, and take it seriously. I had already made an attempt with some slightly better videos, but without much strategy, before discovering his channel. I had created some videos without a specific idea that were already much better than my average, but at that moment, when I discovered Marcos, the pieces of the puzzle fell into place, and I felt motivated…

In addition to content creation over the past two years, I studied a Master’s in Digital Marketing to professionalize myself and seek new challenges in the business world. During these years, I’ve learned some self-taught skills like editing, filming, speaking in front of the camera, and directing, but I didn’t have as solid a foundation as the Master’s program provided me. I also expanded my knowledge in other exciting areas of the digital world, such as SEO and E-Commerce.

Nowadays, my YouTube channel isn’t “very” active in terms of long videos, but I work on other social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. I usually maintain a balance across all of them, and I’m working on a format that fits me for long YouTube videos, since after being very busy with work and studies for a while, I barely had time to dedicate to the red platform.

Up until today, when we did our first collaboration, I was in his hometown (Barcelona), and we talked about making a video in the format I’ve been working on lately, which has been showing results. One day with creator Marcos Álvarez, showing iconic spots in Barcelona.

Here’s the video I made with him! I encourage you to leave a comment with your thoughts on the video or anything you think is relevant.
